Paula + Brad: It's Love!

As a wedding and portrait photographer, I never know who I am going to meet, and where. Everyone, at some point, is in need of professional photography, whether it be a new family with their newborn, a family with kids growing up, or a newly engaged couple.

Al and I had our tasting and "Wedding Showcase" event at Club Roma (where we're getting married in July), where they put on a "faux wedding", with flowers, decorations, music, and the whole nine yards. It was great to see the room set up the way that it might be set up for our wedding, and it was even greater to be able to eat ALL the food that they have available. Yumm!

We were seated with another couple and their guests - Paula and Brad. After chit-chatting a little bit about our weddings, the plans, and so on, we made the connection that Paula had contacted me some time ago, inquiring about hiring me as their wedding photographer. Unfortunately, I wasn't available for their wedding date.

They decided that, even though I wasn't available for their wedding, they wanted to have some really nice engagement portraits done with us. This past weekend I met up with them (they're local Pelhamites, too) for a fun portrait session at Brad's parent's place (which is beautiful).

Alison + Kyle: It's Love!

We photographed Erin and Levi's beautiful wedding this past summer, and we really had a great time spending time with and getting to know their families and wedding party. We always are honoured to share such a special day with our couples.

When Levi's sister, Alison, found out that her and Kyle were expecting a little addition to their family, she called me and expressed interest in having us photograph her maternity portraits. Of course, we were more than delighted to!

One of my favourite things about portraiture is bringing in the environment to complement or contrast my subects. I love environmental portraiture, and our clients have told us that it is one of the main reasons that they hire us to do what we do.

Portraits of Pelham: Tim and Gaye Hartwick

I met up with Tim and Gaye Hartwick for their Portraits of Pelham session. What an amazing husband-and-wife team they are!

Tim and Gaye Hartwick are two of the amazing people behind Agape Valley and all of the wonderful events that take place there. They also own Personal Touch Home Improvements, CoverAll Siding, Windows and Aluminum Products and Hartwick Contracting (holy smokes, and I thought that I was busy!). They are two true givers in the community who care a great amount about Pelham's youth and the betterment of society.

Agape Valley is a 140 acre property located right here in Pelham. It is owned and managed by Niagara Shorthills Christian Ministries, an autonomous, evangelical, faith ministry. They host day camps in the summer time, pavilion rentals, school tours of the sugar bush, hayrides, and, of course, their infamous "Maple Syrup Days".

I have talked about seminars, workshops and courses previously, here on the blog. I love the idea of giving back and helping aspiring photographers and my fellow professional photographers. Not only do I have a huge passion for teaching and inspiring other photographers, but I really think that through education, we can raise the bar for professional photography.

I have taught on subjects such as basics-of-photography, Adobe Lightroom, workflow, off-camera flash, album design, portrait lighting, embracing change, branding, marketing, finances, techniques for photographing, and so on. I am excited and honoured to be speaking this coming March on a completely new and totally different topic.

I am honoured to have been asked, along with my EnlightenMe partner, Robert Nowell, to join the line-up of amazing photographers speaking at the upcoming Awaken workshop, on March 20th and 21st. Amy + Rich: It's Love!

Our couples totally rule! We have the pleasure of hanging out with and photographing 25 amazing engaged couples, every year, and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to do so.

I photographed Rich's brother, Shawn, and his beautiful wife, Kristin, in 2008, and then I photographed Rich and Shawn's older brother, Dave, and his family, last year, as well. When Rich and Amy got engaged, they wanted to have us share their wedding day with them as well; we are so excited for their wedding coming up this Fall!

I hung out with them in Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Monday, for yet-another beautiful day in March! They wanted something a little bit more edgy and stylistic, and so we tried some new things, some new locations, and created some really amazing imagery for them.

Amy and Rich got engaged, last year, at a B&B that they stayed at for a weekend. They found it fitting to have us go back to that B&B for part of their engagement session. How cute is that?

Renee + Bobby: It's Love!

It's crazy to think that for at least half of our weddings this year, Al and I will be photographing the wedding as a married couple. As man and wife. Oh, that is so cool - I could definitely get used to this terminology!

In planning our own wedding, we've really discovered another level that we are able to relate to and connect with our couples. We share with them the excitement, the energy, the stress, and everything else that comes with planning a wedding. It's really amazing to get to hang out with such amazing couples who are at the same point in their lives that we are.

Renee and Bobby are tying the knot this coming August, and we are just so pumped to be photographing their wedding. Not only are we photographing their wedding, but we are providing our popular fusion coverage for them - a unique way to dive a little bit deeper into the amazing moments and memories from your wedding day.

I hung out with Renee and Bobby this past Sunday for their engagement session, in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake. Niagara is home to so many beautiful and amazing landscapes, architecture and locations, that you really can't go wrong. We were blessed with the most amazing weather that we could have asked for - not too cold (about 4 degrees celsius), lots of snow on the ground, and beautiful sun! Yum!

Typically, winter-time is the slower time of the year, here, at the studio. This year, it seems as if winter has flipped over on us, because we're busier than ever (hey, not that I'm complaining or anything)!

As you can tell from the activity here on the blog, we have been having a total hoot with our portrait sessions as of late, and we have been connecting and meeting some really amazing individuals.

We have also had prints, albums, and books coming in-and-out of the studio quicker than you can imagine! I thought that it would be neat to show you a few photographs of some of our recent books and albums. We have loads of samples of our products in our studio for you to come and look at, but , we understand that everyone can't make it in all of the time, and that's why we like to share some of these images on our blog.

The only problem with looking at the images of our products on our blog is that you can't touch, feel and smell them. These prints, frames,books and albums are the highest quality fine-art products available on the market today, and I will stand by that statement! We have searched, tirelessly, high-and-low, for the best possible products to be offering our clients. Why? Because our clients deserve the best, because they ARE the best!

Aww ... isn't that a nice sentiment!?

Check out this framed print that Sue and Phil ordered from their portrait session back in the Fall time. What a nice way to display some of their favourite family portraits on their wall.

Here is an album that we designed for Courtney and Aaron. I love the deep, rich, mahogony leather that they chose for their cover. It is inspired from our "Jazz" collection of leathers, and it just feels oh-so-sexy to the touch. Mmm!

This is one of my favourite spreads in the album. I just love what these albums allow for, now, with full-page spreads, gutterless spines, and high-quality printing. Why would you EVER just want to have the disc of photos when you can have an amazing finished album like this?

Portraits of Pelham: Ron Kore

They say that via the six degrees of separation, we are all only six people away from every other person on this planet. It's pretty amazing when you really stop to think about it.

I think that in the small community of Pelham, however, that rule is more like one degree of separation, or two degrees at most.

Ron Kore and I met up on Saturday for his Portraits of Pelham session, and we discovered that he went to school with my Dad and my Uncle. What a small world!

Cassie: It's Fun!

I am happy to introduce you to my winter-semester co-op student, Cassandra! Cassie will be with us, here at the studio until the end of April, during the week from 9:00am - 3:00pm. Cassie is interested in pursuing a career as a professional photographer, and what better way to "test the waters" than to have a co-op with a professional photography studio!

We are very happy to have her join the team, and we're excited to have Cassie working on some fun new projects and ideas here at the studio. We're also hoping to have her as a "guest blogger", every week, to talk about her experiences here at the studio, what she's learning, and so on. Keep your eyes peeled!

I always like to take my co-op students out for a mini-portrait session at the beginning of their co-op so that they can get a feel for how I work, what it's like to be in front of the camera, and, ultimately, to create some really nice portraits of them for the blog!

Craig + Debby: It's Love!

Dale Carnegie spoke, taught, and wrote on the topics of leadership, personal development, interpersonal skills, and living a worry-free life. Two of his most famous books that you have undoubtedly heard of (and maybe even read) are "How to Win Friends and Influence People" and "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living". If you haven't read them - I suggest you definitely check them out. They will literally change your life.

My good friend, Craig Riesebosch, is one of the founders (along with Neil Thornton and Steve Cardy) of the Dale Carnegie training in Niagara Falls. These three guys are doing some amazing things here in Niagara, helping business owners and individuals reach new heights in their businesses, improve their leadership skills and strengthen their relationships. These training projects occur over a 9-week period (meeting once per week) and it really is the only way to fast-track your personal and professional success.

"How do you know, Bryan?", you ask. Well, because I am currently enrolled in the Dale Carnegie training project, and while we are only 4 weeks in, I am already seeing a huge difference in my life and in my business. Craig, Neil and Steve have pushed me beyond my comfort zone and have really allowed me to expand my limits. It's amazing. You NEED to take it. Period.

The next course being offered starts in April, and you can check out more information here.

Craig is also the president of our local BNI chapter (the one that I have mentioned many times before, here, on the blog). He is such an amazing leader and coach, and I am very lucky to know him.

Craig treated his wife, Debby, to a weekend-away, this past weekend, in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It was a weekend full of relaxing, eating, and great connecting. What a fabulous idea for Valentine's Day! Sometimes we get so busy in our lives and in our businesses, that we forget to connect and spend time with those we love.

One of the things that Craig wanted to do as part of his weekend-away with Debby, was have some really nice portraits created of the two of them. I was honoured when Craig asked me to be the photographer to create these portraits for them.

The images that follow are a glimpse into Craig and Debby's amazing relationship and silly antics. What I really wanted to capture in these photographs was the fun that Craig and Debby have together and the amazing bond that they share.

The Sherry Campbell Counselling Group

One of my favourite things about being a professional photographer is the people that I get to meet and spend time with. As a portrait and wedding photographer, the limits are pretty much endless as to the types of clients that I have. At the end of the day, everyone for one reason or another needs to have portraits created.

While a good majority of my work focuses around couples (engagement portraits, couple's portraits, and weddings), I do do a fair amount of other portraiture work, whether it be business portraits, family portraits, and so on. I personally just really just enjoy hanging out with amazing people, connecting, chatting, and creating some really nice portraits for them.

I met up with Sherry, Don, and Shari, of the Sherry Campbell Counselling Group, last week, to create some portraits for their upcoming re-branding and marketing material. The Sherry Campbell Counselling Group provides mental health counselling to individuals, couples, families and groups in Niagara, and I met Sherry through my local BNI group that I joined about 6 months ago.

Annika + Zack: It's Love!

'Tis the season for love! I absolutely love photographing couples in the winter time. There's something about the rosy cheeks, the cuddling, and the contrast of the snow and dark coats and makes our winter "It's Love" portraits so magical. Love it!

As you know, we are running our amazing "It's Love Mini-Session" promotion right now, and on Monday, I hung out with Annika and Zack for their mini-session.

It's funny how things come about. I have been a frequent visitor of William's Coffee in Niagara Falls for quite a while now (ever since they opened a couple of years ago). Annika is a manager there, and every time that she is working, and I am there, we chat it up and talk about anything and everything. When I recently found out that she was engaged, I was all too excited for her and Zack! Unfortunately, I am already booked for her wedding date, but that didn't stop her from wanting to do an "It's Love" portrait session with Zack, so we thought that our mini-sessions were the perfect fit.

I have a ton more "It's Love Mini-Sessions" lined up for the coming weeks. If you haven't scheduled yours yet, what are you waiting for?!

Portraits of Pelham: Jim Ryan

One of the things that I hoped to discover and create through Portraits of Pelham is not only to document some of the influential members of the Pelham community, but also to recognize and capture some unique and very special individuals.

Jim Ryan is the owner of Ryan's Auto Body in Fonthill, located just down the hill on Highway 20. Jim is an extremely dedicated and hard working man, and runs a very honest and genuine business here in Pelham. His expertise has benefited hundreds of Pelhaminians (there's that word again) and his kindness has touched even more.

One of the reasons that I was lead to Jim, and why I wanted to create a portrait and tell his story wasn't necessarily for his great auto-body shop, but instead, for his fascinating collection of memorabilia.

Carla + Maurizio: It's Devotion!

2010 is an exciting year for us, here, at Bryan Caporicci Photography. We have 25 absolutely amazing couples to hang out with, photograph, and watch the formation of their new family. We also get to experience this, first hand, ourselves.

As many of you may know, Al and I are getting married, ourselves, this July 10th. As we put together all of the final pieces to our wedding details and plans, it is so exciting to see the days count down. We can totally understand the excitement and emotions that our couples go through. I think that it has really given us a better appreciation and understanding for our couples.

This past weekend marked the kick-off to our 2010 season with Carla and Maurizio's wedding. We spent the day in Halton Hills, and had a beautiful day for a winter wonderland wedding.

To Carla and Maurizio - enjoy your time in St. Lucia, and we're looking forward to getting together with you to go over your album and images once you get back!

I hope that you all enjoy these images ... I think that they really set the stage for an amazing 2010.
Here is Maurizio putting the boutonniere on his ring bearer, Paolo. Usually the guys have a difficult time putting on the flowers, but Maurizio passed this one with flying colours!

What a strapping lad!

Maurizio took a few minutes, in the rush of the preparations, to sit down and do what he enjoys most - play some classical guitar. Maurizio is a total guitar whiz, and he left all of us breathless with the beautiful tunes he was playing.

I just love the look of Maurizio's Nonna as he was putting the flowers on her. The look of pride. The look of happiness. The look of adoration. Moments like these are often not appreciated in the heat of the moment on the wedding day, but when you look back at your photographs, you can really slow down and appreciate them.

Over at Carla's parent's house, they had decorated the entrance way and the stairs to the nines. It was a beautiful setting for a great bridal gown detail shot.

Can you tell that Carla is excited and looking forward to what is ahead of her?

This is one of Carla's flower girls, enjoying a laugh with the rest of the girls. How adorable is this?

Carla was absolutely stunning in her dress. The ongoing theme throughout all of the decorations and floral arrangements was peacock feathers. When we were in her room creating some bridal portraits, I saw this masquerade mask with the peacock feathers on it and thought that it was so appropriate to create an image with it.

Carla was a total trooper and wanted to go outside for some winter-y portraits. It was cold, but it was definitel worth it!

What a beautiful family portrait - Mom and Dad, Carla, and her sister, Andrea. Lovely!

After the ceremony, Carla and Maurizio opted to have some quiet time, upstairs in the balcony, as opposed to having a receiving line right away. This gave them a few amazing moments to breath, enjoy each other's company, and soak in the moment.

We always encourage our couples to plan in some private time on the wedding day. As busy as the day goes, you really have to remember that it is about the two of you, and your love for each other. Having this moment or two in the balcony really allowed them to enjoy each other's company.

We went to the Rose Garden Theatre for the bridal party portraits, and we had a great time there. The lighting was just fantastic!

We went into the theatre itself for a few quick portraits. It was very dark in there, but, no fear, Bryan the flash-whisperer is here!

Love this one of the whole bridal party!

The reception was gorgeously decorated, and the theme of peacock feathers were carried out throughout all of the floral arrangements and favor boxes.

Here are a few of my favourite moments and images from the reception - some happy, some emotional, and some fun. They all make up what a wedding is all about, in my opinion.

Abby and Kate: It's Chic!

I get such a thrill out of photographing something different, something that I have never photographed before. I find that it gives me a real creative rush when I encounter something new and have to get artistic with it, while at the same time, adapting to the change of scenery.

This was exactly the case on Friday, when I got together with Abby and Kate for a portrait session for their new company. I have photographed both Abby and Kate before (Abby, more than once), and I always love getting together with clients again. Abby and Kate recently started up their own company, through which they teach dance and dance at bars and nightclubs. Here's the only caveat, though - they are "dancing" while suspended from straps, sometimes as high as 10 or 15 feet in the air.

I know - unreal, isn't it?We had the portrait session at the brand-new Vice Lounge, in Niagara Falls. I'd like to send out a quick, personal thank-you to Mike Drolias, one of the owners of Vice Lounge for allowing us the use of his space (and time) on Friday. It was the perfect location for this kind of session, and I am really looking forward to working with Mike and the guys on some future projects, as well.

I'd also like to thank Jaime and the lovely ladies at Textures Hair Salon, who did a bang-up job with Abby and Kate's hair and make-up. I love collaborating with such amazing and creative artists - they really help make the images go from great to amazing.

Sneak Peek - next week's "Portrait of Pelham"

Kelly: It's Fun!

Without sounding too cliche, I wanted to quickly talk about one of my New Years resolutions. This year, I want to increase my health, eat better, and get back into the gym and loose some weight. I realize that this is a common resolution, and often, it is one that falls by the wayside. But me? That is certainly not going to happen, because I have the best motivation in the world - I am getting married in less than 5 months, and I've got to fit into that tuxedo!

I am very happy to say that I have been sticking to my resolution for 5 weeks now, and everything is going fantastic; I have lost about 20 pounds so far, and am still going! Best of all, though, I am feeling better than every.

Through my research, talking with fitness trainers, and my own experience, I have put together a list of "rules" to follow for optimal weight loss, and I'll be blogging those sometime in the very new future to help those of you who have a similar resolution.

Like I said, one of the biggest things that I have noticed, in cooking all healthy, organic foods, eating lots of vegetables, and avoiding the junk food is that I am feeling a million times better.

This is why it was so interesting to hang out with Kelly and chatting with her about her passion - vegan cooking.

I photographed Ken and Kelly's wedding over two years ago, at the Prince of Whales in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and they recently contacted me, asking me to create some portraits of Kelly for their new website and restaurant. They're opening an all-organic, vegan restaurant in downtown Burlington.

Much like how my change of eating habits has changed the way that I look and feel, Kelly says that when she decided to go vegan, it completely changed her lifestyle, and she has never felt better.

We will be getting together again, soon, to photograph the restaurant once the renovations are done, the different plates that they offer, and to capture the grand opening, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

Fonthill is home to a great number of phenomenal restaurants. The Wildflower Restaurant and Market is a landmark to Fonthill; it sits on Highway 20, immediately as you enter the town.

The Wildflower Restaurant and Market features a bistro dine-in restaurant and a specialty take-out food market. The restaurant and market both focus on sustainable and organic foods, and the chefs use locally grown fruits, vegetables and supplies when possible.

When the idea of "Portraits of Pelham" was born, I was very excited about all of the possibilities that it could bring. Through "Portraits of Pelham", I have been so fortunate to have been able to meet some amazing people in the town of Pelham, and I am very much looking forward to meeting some even more amazing people.

I am a firm believer in sharing the gifts and the talents that you have. There are so many photographers who photograph exclusively for "business purposes" and lose track of what photography really is. Photography, to me, is magic; to be able to create an image that stops time dead in it's tracks and records that specific moment forever is just miraculous to me. I am happy to be able to share my gift and my talent and use photography to better the community. And that's why I started "Portraits of Pelham".

Two other great Pelhaminians (I just made that up - I think it sounds good) who are using their talents for the betterment of the community are the genius's behind MyPelham.com - Cathy Berkhout-Bossee and Melissa Wells. As you may know, I have teamed up with MyPelham.com to help spread the word about "Portraits of Pelham".

MyPelham.com is an online resource for Pelhaminians (I really think this word could catch on) to keep up-to-date on all the latest news, events and specials happening in Pelham. There is also a business directory, an article-database of articles written by fellow Pelhaminian's and an Area Map for those of you who may be new to the community. If you are a Pelhaminian, head on over to MyPelham.com and check it out. Be sure to subscribe to their newsletter, too, as they send out weekly updates on "What's Happening" in Pelham.

Ashley and Braden: It's Love!

Winter is one of my favourite seasons to photograph portraits in. Don't get me wrong - I love every season, and every season has it's pros and cons. Spring is beautiful because of all of the blooming flowers, Summer is beautiful because of the longer days and the gorgeous weather, and Fall is awesome just because of the vibrant oranges and reds in the leaves.

You might wonder, then, "What is it about Winter that is so amazing, Bryan". Well, for me, even though it is bitter cold outside, there is something about the rosey cheeks, the warm, cozy clothes and the contrast of the white snow that I just love!

You see, as much as us Canadians complain about the snow and the cold, I really don't think that I could do without it. Not only do I love all of our winter activities here in Canada - skiing, in particular - but I just couldn't do without those amazing winter portrait sessions (and the amazing hot chocolates that follow).

I met up with Ashley and Braden yesterday for their engagement session. They are having a backyard wedding this coming September, up North, and it's couples like Ashley and Braden that make my job the best job in the entire universe! They are so much fun, easy to get along with and completely care-free. Not to mention they belong on the cover of Vogue magazine!

Ashley and Braden are working with wedding planner extraordinaire Tara Santo, from Planned to a T. Tara has an office in Thorold, and she is helping Ashley and Braden not only through the wedding planning process, but will also be providing day-of coordination at their wedding this Fall. I always encourage our couples to think about having a day-of wedding coordinator, because they take all of the stress and worry completely off of your back on the wedding day.

Ashley, Braden and I hung out in Niagara-on-the-Lake - down by the water (which was really cold) and then wandering the streets of the downtown core.

Winter Basics-of-Photography Class!

Are you a photographer, or looking to get more into photography? Do you have a DSLR but don't know the difference between Manual Mode and Manual Focus? Are you going to school for photography, but want that extra edge?

We had such a fantastic response and received incredible feedback from our Spring Photography Class, that we decided to open up another opportunity for aspiring photographers.

You are invited to join us for our Winter Basics-of-Photography Class! This class will take place on Sunday, February 21st, from 9:00am - 5:00pm (lunch and coffee included). The class will be held at our new studio in Fonthill, on Highway 20.

You will learn more about the basics of photography, including shutter speed, ISO, Aperture, the rules of composition, as well as how to see and shoot more creatively. We will also have a 1-hour photo-outing (see sample from our last class's photo-outing here), where we will go out, together, with a model, and practice what we have learned. You will then be invited to show to the class your photographs for critiquing and discussion.

Our only requirement is that attendees own a Digital SLR Camera and are comfortable with the basic operation of it.

PPO Speaking Engagement - Embracing Change

As many of you know, not only am I a photographer here in the Niagara region, but I am also a photo-educator in the Niagara region. I have held basic, entry-level photography courses here at the studio, and I also have another business with local photographer Robert Nowell, called "EnlightenMe", which is an educational resource for professional photographers.

I have had the pleasure to teach, along-side Robert, on many topics, including sales, marketing, branding, the business of photography, off-camera flash, Adobe Lightroom and embracing change. Robert and I were recently asked by the Professional Photographers of Ontario, Central-Portrait branch (in Toronto) if we could speak and give a seminar at their upcoming meeting. As always, we were pleased to be able to share our knowledge and really encourage the photographers to embrace change in their business and grow to a bigger and better studio.

We spoke on the changing photography industry and all of the wonderful things that come along with it. Topics included:

- Digital negatives
- Websites
- Marketing

Minhal and Daud: Election Portraits

I talked about word-of-mouth advertising and network marketing, and how important it is in my business. There is also another form of marketing that is very closely related to these - it's called referral marketing.

It's always funny to see referral marketing at-play. I think it's fascinating that in business, you can usually trace everything back to a fairly small subset of clients who have all spread the word. One client tells another, who tells another, who tells a few, and it goes on and on and on. It creates this amazing web of clients who are all inter-connected, and are all looking for the same thing from photography.

It's this reason that I am always striving not only to produce the most amazing portraits for my clients, but that I am also dedicated to providing the most incredible experience for my clients. Because one satisfied client tells another who tells another who tells a few ... and, well, you get the point!

Having gone to Brock University for almost 4 years, I have a very strong connection with the school; I spent hours and hours and hours there, studying, in class, at the gym, working, and hanging out with friends. It holds a lot of really special memories for me.

When I was still at Brock, three years ago, I photographed my good friend, Sohail Mall, when he was running for Board of Directors for BUSU at Brock. We hung out for an afternoon and wandered around Brock, finding all the hotspots for some really nice election photos.

From that session, I have since done election portraits, every single year, for various Brock students running for various positions. It's neat to see how one single session can stem into so many more.

This morning I met up with Minhal and Daud for some election portraits. Minhal is running for the first time, for BUSU Board of Directors, and Daud (whom I photographed two years ago, as well) is running for his third year in a row.

It's Chic: February, 2010 Promotion

Something that we offer all of our brides are our "It's Chic" sessions - also known as "boudoir photography". Our "It's Chic" sessions are an opportunity to get some beautiful, romantic, and classy images of you, to give your groom-to-be on the morning of the wedding. What bride doesn't want to get pampered, have her hair and make-up done and feel great about herself?

Our boudoir sessions aren't only for our brides, though. We offer them to all of our clients who are interested. For the month of January and February, we are accepting a limited number of sessions as a discounted rate, which will be $425. This will include professional hair and make-up, a 2-hour boudoir portrait session, on-location, and a 5x5 boudoir-book with 10 of your favourite images.

Engaged Encounter: Some thoughts for marriage

Last weekend, Al and I had the opportunity to take our "Engaged Encounter" class, through the church. It is a pre-cana class that everyone who gets married catholic is required to take. The course took place over the Friday evening and all day on the Saturday.

The concept behind the course is to really get you thinking about your relationship as a couple and to help you move in a positive direction, together. For Al and I, seeming as we have been dating for over 6 years, we have pretty much had a chance to talk about everything and anything with regards to our married life. A lot of the couples that we met at this course, however, had only been dating for a couple of years (or shorter), so there are inevitably some topics that may not have come up in conversation. This course was to get them talking about these topics and get them on the same page before they wed.

I thought that it would be interesting to have a blog post, listing a few of the topics discussed throughout the course, to share with everyone. Some couples' whose weddings we photograph are not marrying catholic, so they wouldn't have a chance to take a pre-cana course like this.

Take a look at some of these questions, and have a chat with your fiance about them. It may be interesting and enlightening to see what each other has to say on each topic.

Financials
Will you share a joint bank account or will you keep your bank accounts separate?
Who will be in charge of paying the bills?
Have you/wIll you invest in an RRSP for savings, or an RESP for your children's' education? How about any other kind of investments? Who is going to handle that?
Have you sat down and worked out a personal budget? Have you set financial goals?
Will you have a financial advisor to help you with your money and your investments?
What kind of house can you afford? What kind of vehicles can you afford? Will you take vacations?
Would you be willing to move if your spouse got a promotion that involved re-location?

Children
Will you have children? How many will you have? How far apart in age would you like them to be?
Will your children attend a catholic school or a public school? Will you raise them catholic and have them attend church?
How will you discipline your children?
What if you are unable to have children, naturally? Would you try other methods?

Family
How do you plan on maintaining a relationship with your own families?
How will you spend the holidays?
What traditions did you have, growing up, with your families? What traditions do you hope to continue with your own family?

Chores
What are the household chores? List them, and figure out how they will be divided. Will one of you do more than the other?
How were the household chores divided when you were growing up, with your parents? Do you have similar views on this?
What if one of you busier than the other, will the other spouse do more chores and housework than the other?

Rules for effective arguments:

No name calling
No 3rd party
No past history
Stick to the subject
No cheap shots
Don’t go to bed angry
Maintain a sense of humour

There are so many times that we get caught up in Reality TV, or Hollywood's latest and greatest, and the "rockstars" of the world, that we forget to acknowledge and really appreciate the talent that we have in our own backyard.

Mark Lalama is a local musician, here, in Pelham, and he has been gifted with an incredible talent for the art of music. It is no wonder that he has seen such success.

Graham: It's Fun!

I have people asking me all of the time "Bryan, how do you get your clients?", and I think that it is a really interesting topic, and it's one that we talk a lot about in our Business of Photography seminars. There are a million different ways that we, as small business owners, can spend our money - print advertising, magazine advertising, billboards, online directories and yellow-pages, just to name a few. It seems that as every day goes by, a new company has come out with "the next best way" to market your business. I believe that having a presence in the traditional mediums of advertising is great, but it doesn't end there.

I don't personally believe that you can put "all your eggs in one basket", especially if that basket is traditional advertising. Traditional advertising has turned into what is known as interruption advertising - trying to get someone's attention as they're flipping through a magazine, or trying to throw business cards at someone as they're walking through a bridal show. I don't feel that this is the best way for me to market myself. It seems too intrusive. It seems too cold.

I prefer word-of-mouth advertising. I like to provide a phenomenal service, create outstanding images, and create lasting relationships with my clients. The next time that they need, or know someone who needs a professional photographer, my hope is that they will tell them about me. This is how I have built my business, and I am so fortunate to have the amazing clients that I do have.

There is another form of marketing that is related to word-of-mouth marketing, and it's called network marketing, or just networking. Meeting and seeing other people, explaining what it is you do, showing them that you do a great job, and hoping that next time they need my services, they will think of me. Networking is a huge part of my business, and I really do attribute a great amount of my success to it.

In light of this, I recently joined the BNI Champagne Chapter, here in Niagara. BNI is a Canada-wide networking group, with smaller chapters throughout the regions. Each chapter is allowed to have only one business representing a specific category (photography, for example), and the objective of the group is to meet and get to know other business-owners and pass around referrals. Essentially, the whole point is to build relationships. When my insurance agent, Vern Furtney, of the Co-Operators, told me about the opening in the photographer category for this BNI chapter, I was all in! I've now been a member for only a couple of months, but I am loving everything about it. I have met some really genuine and amazing business people, and I have established some relationships that are going to last a very long time.

One incredibly influential member of our BNI chapter is Graham Wilson. Graham is a lawyer out of St. Catharines, and he needed to have his business portrait updated for his new website. Graham is a commical, fun, and relaxed individual, and I really enjoyed spending some time with him on his portrait session.

Portraits of Pelham: Monique Mulder-Wallace

As you may or may not know, Allison and I recently purchased a home in Fonthill, and so we have recently moved our home-based-studio to the wonderful city of Pelham.

We have discovered so many wonderful treasures, met so many amazing people and stumbled upon some incredible talent, here, in Fonthill. As an attempt to discover more, uncover more, and meet more, we have launched our new portrait project, Portraits of Pelham. You can check out our Portraits of Pelham website, over at www.PortraitsOfPelham.com.

Portraits of Pelham will feature portraits created of members of the community who reflect the essence and character of Pelham, whether it be through their volunteer commitments, their business contributions, or the unique nature of their personal vision. Each portrait will be taken ‚"on-location", in an environment that uniquely represents the individual, such as at their home or their place of business. Each portrait will be accompanied with a brief ‚"biography" of this individual, explaining their place in the community.

My first Portraits of Pelham subject was Monique Mulder-Wallace, a local pottery artist, here in Fonthill.

Monique grew up in Oakville, and has always had a passion for pottery. As a little girl, she would spend her spare time practicing and perfecting the art of pottery. She has taught pottery classes all around the area while continuing to hone her own style. When Monique, her husband, her son and her daughter moved to Fonthill 7-years ago, she pursued a different path with regards to pottery. Instead of spending the majority of her time in the classroom, teaching the art, she decided to go full-time as a pottery artist, and create and sell unique pieces to the local community.

Monique has since had her work displayed in galleries all around Ontario, and also has pieces decorating the shelves of‚ "Reign Equestrian and Athletics" and "Butterflies Boutique", right here, in Fonthill. Monique has also participated in the Pelham Art Festival, and plans to participate again this year.

Monique lives in a truly creative environment, her husband plays the guitar and paints beautiful, one-of-a-kind watercolour paintings, her son plays the guitar, piano and trumpet in the school and local band, and her daughter has her own line of jewellery, called "Fly Away Home Jewellery" and also plays piano and flute. It is no wonder that Monique is able to continually re-inspire herself to create the most beautiful pieces of pottery art!

I hope that you enjoy a few of the portraits that I created for her - starting with, of course, the "signature" portrait that was featured on Portraits Of Pelham.

Ann + Tony: It's Love!

As wedding photographers, we are so fortunate to be able to spend a great deal of time with our couples. Not only do we hang out all day on the wedding day, but we also meet-up several times throughout the wedding planning process, chit-chat on the phone to check-up from time to time, and, of course, we always have the engagement sessions to get together and have some fun.

We find that after spending such a great amount of time with our couples and after having connected with them on such a deeper level than as photographers, the wedding day is bitter-sweet. It's sweet because, well, it's their wedding day and we are so excited for them to move forward into that part of their lives together. But it's bitter because that means that our time together will be soon coming to a halt.

That's why we love it so much when our couples come back to us for their portrait sessions - whether it be another "It's Love" session, a trash-the-dress, a maternity session or a family sessions.

Ann and Tony are such a phenomenal couple. We had a terrific time skating with them at their engagement session at Bronte Creek, and we were blessed to share their wedding day with them last summer. They were also kind enough to do a video-testimonial for BcapTV late last year. When we found out that they were expecting, we were ecstatic! It's so exciting to see our couples go from engaged, to married, and then to starting a family of their own.

We got together with Ann and Tony this past weekend for a maternity session, and it was so much fun to hang out again. Ann is 7-months along the journey, and her belly is just adorable!

Of course, family portraits just wouldn't be the same without their first daughter ... Lilly! She is such a well behaved and outgoing dog. We loved hanging out with her, too!

It's Love Mini-Sessions: Winter Edition!

With Christmas and New Years just past, and Valentine's Day just around the corner, love is in the air this time of the year. Whether you have been dating for only a few months, or have been married for thirty years, you deserve to celebrate your love.

Our "It's Love" portrait sessions are all about capturing who you are as a couple and photographing that love that you share for each other.

On New Years Eve, Al and I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Nichole and Ted on their big day. They had a small, intimate wedding in Niagara Falls, followed by some photographs at the Casino.

Christmas Cruise 2009!

I had the chance to get away on vacation over the Christmas holidays, so it has been a couple of weeks since I have had a chance to blog. Now that I am back, though, I would like to wish everyone a very happy holidays, and all the best in 2010!

For our Christmas vacation, Al's parents took us (and her sisters and boyfriend) on a cruise. We totally LOVE cruises and think that they're definitely the best way to vacation - unlimited and amazing food, tons of entertainment, and you get to see a bunch of islands and places all at once.

Now, a holiday just wouldn't be a holiday if I didn't bring my camera, of course, right? So here's some of my favourite images ...

And we also visited the Atlantis hotel. Man this place is totally breathtaking! The most expensive room in this hotel is $25,000 per night, with a minimum of 4 nights stay. Yikes! $100,000 to stay in a hotel? WOW!!

And the last stop in Nassau was the beach. The waters here are perfectly aqua, and the weather was beautiful!

On Christmas day, we were in Freeport, Bahamas. Again, some beautiful beaches!

2010 is going to be a very exciting year for us! First of all, we're getting married this year! That enough makes 2010 awesome. On top of that, though, we have so many amazing things happening at Bryan Caporicci Photography. Our 2010 wedding season is pretty much booked up, now, and we are so lucky to be working with the best couples on this planet!

Kelly + Elder: It's Love [Fusion]!

As a photographer, I am constantly trying to find the most unique way to tell the story of our couple's wedding days. We are so privileged to be allowed into the lives of our couples and to share with them such a special time of their life.

Our wedding albums, engagement books, wall portraits and slideshows are a wonderful way of bringing back the memories of our couples' wedding day, and reminding them of all the details and special moments that they shared.

Like I said, though, we are always looking for new ways and new mediums to tell the story off our couple's relationship and their wedding day. With the way that technology has been going, and how quickly it has been advancing, it has allowed us to do some pretty amazing things, not only with photography, but with other related mediums. And thus our "Fusion Sessions" were born.

What is "Fusion", you ask? If you are a photographer and reading this, then you are probably familiar with the term - it is the combination of still photographs and video. Yup. Video!

We are by no means videographers, so please don't interpret this the wrong way. We are not trying to replace the job of the videographers. Documentary videography is not what we are going after with our "Fusion" coverage. What our "Fusion" coverage is is a mix of our photographs and video-moments, captured throughout the day. The point of our "Fusion" is to better tell the story and make it come to life just a little bit more. We're adding a third dimension, if you will.

We have been offering Fusion coverage to our couple's for over a year now, and have provided such services to 10 of our couples from 2009. We now have even more of our couples who have added our Fusion-coverage to their wedding collection for 2010, which we're really excited about!

We have kept this great option quiet, up until now, and have only been showing our couples who meet with us samples of our Fusion videos. But, we thought that it was about time to up-the-game, and show some of our new options to the world!

Below is a Fusion session that we had with Kelly and Elder. We did the video-moments throughout their engagement session, and, at the end, spent 10 minutes interviewing both Kelly and Elder to complete the look and feel of the final presentation. We're really proud of this video, and are happy to finally be able to show it to you!

For the past few years, we have been offering our clients big, beautiful canvas prints to hang and decorate their homes with. We absolutely LOVE canvas prints - they turn an image into a piece of art, and are a really great way to display an image.

We have recently added a brand new line of products to our studio - custome, fine-art framing. I was absolutely blown away when I met my new framing partner - his frames are absolutely to DIE for and there is such a great variety in colours, styles and finishes. We are going to be really encouraging our couples to think about framing for their wall portraits - there is a world of difference between a custom, fine-art frame and a Wal-Mart frame.

Framing has been a product that has been long-desired in the studio, and we are now happy to introduce some of Niagara's finest custom framing available for your beautiful wall portraits. Enjoy some of these images of our new studio samples.
What a beautiful, antique finish this frame has ... LOVE it!

Not only can we frame your images in a million different ways, but we now are proud to offer other related custom-products, such as float-mounting and framed collages, like this one from Joanna and Rob's wedding.

Each print is individually laminated and float-mounted on the matting. It really makes a unique and outstanding way to display a number of prints.

Of course, here is a more traditional double-matted 12x18 framed print.

This goes to show that matter what the space, there is always room to decorate your home with portraits.

This 12x18 framed and matted photo is hanging in a 20" space between a window and a wall - a space that most would say "there isn't room for a photo there". It's all about finding the right size for the right wall.

Of course, I had to throw some images of the studio, all decorated for Christmas. Love this time of the year!

The Smid Family: It's Fun!

Do you remember Melanie and John? I'm sure most of you that have been to the studio certainly know Melanie and John. Their wedding images are hanging up all over the place, and we show all of our potential couples their wedding album. They're pretty much our "superstar" couple - love 'em!

Well, Al and I went up to Ancaster this past weekend for a family portrait session with Melanie, her parents, and all of her siblings. We had a great time hanging out with them, and it's always great to see our couples again!

A word about albums ...

Even though our wedding (shooting) season is officially over, we couldn't be busier! Now is the time of the year that our couples finalize their albums, order their canvas prints, gift prints, etc. I think over the past week, I have designed 12 albums for our couples. The thing that I love about albums is their ability to re-tell the wedding story - all the minute details, the fun moments, and the amazing, dramatic imagery.

Joanna and Rob came over the other day to pick up their albums. They ordered their main album as well as two duplicate parent albums. I was able to snap a few photos before we let them go ...

Speaking of albums ... as previously announced, our deadline to order albums to come in before Christmas is coming up - this Friday!

Also note that the deadline to order prints to come in before Christmas is November 12th.

Why I love what I do!

I absolutely LOVE what I do - every single part of it. The joy that we get from hanging out with the coolest couples on one of the most important days of their lives is beyond words. I was recently interviewed by a Niagara College student for a project that he was doing. Some of the questions I was asked were:

- What made you want to become a wedding photographer?
- What motivates you to do your best on the wedding day?
- Why is wedding photography so important?

When I was answering the questions, it really got me thinking. Don't get me wrong -I know all my answers to all of these questions, but I've never actually written them down before, and doing gave me a whole new love and appreciation for what I do. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate that I am able to do something that I love for a living. I think that that is hard to come by these days. Everyone is always complaining of "the case of the Mondays" or "Thank god it's Friday" - but I'm the opposite! I love being a wedding and portrait photographer and I love every part of my job!

I received an e-mail, yesterday, from Ashley (remember Ashley & Pat?). She came over yesterday morning to pick up her and Pat's wedding album, and after she had gotten it home and really sat to absorb it, she wrote me this e-mail:

Wow... Bryan... our album is beyond words.
It's so beautiful, i just can't keep it closed.
You and Allison did such a GREAT job.
We can't possibly thank you both enough. You have truely captured every emotion felt on our wedding day.
You have created a display that sends us back to each moment and have made it truely memorable.
Thank you again for everything, you guys are wonderful people and I know we will be in touch for a very long time.

Like - WOW! How do I even comment or respond to that? It's e-mails like this and clients like Ashley and Pat that make me so passionate about what I do!

Portraits, portraits, and portraits galore! I love family portraits!

The Kociolek family and I have quite the history, actually. I used to swim competitively at Brock University (from like age 2 to until I was 18), and Mike and Paulina and I swam together there. So I spent weekends with the Kocioleks at swim meets out-of-town, we carpooled together for our early-morning practices, and so on. When Paulina asked me about having some family portraits done, I was way too excited.

A new home for Bryan Caporicci Photography

We are excited to be able to officially announce the new home of Bryan Caporicci Photography! That's right - we have an exciting, new and improved location to serve you better!

Our new, home-based studio is nestled in the heart of the Niagara region, in the historic town of Fonthill. We can be conveniently found on the main street passing through Fonthill, at 25 Highway 20 East. You may be familiar with the house - it is the cute little blue house across the street from Shopper's Drug Mart.

You may ask "why the move?". For starters, we were finding that the 1400 square feet that we had all to ourselves in Niagara Falls was far too much space for our needs. Also - with our wedding coming up in only 10 months (so excited), we decided that it would make so much more sense to buy a nice place for the studio. And so our new project was born!

We have been super busy over the past few months renovating the space to be perfect for the business, and we're just putting the finishing touches on it now. Check out some of the photos, below!

We are happy to say that we will still be providing the same fun, exciting and outstanding service to our couples and portrait clients. We just have an even better place to meet for our meet-and-greets, viewing sessions, get togethers and parties. Now, we're even more accessible to our couples and clients in the GTA area, and more central to the Niagara Region for our clients in Welland, Port Colborne, and beyond. It's a win-win, really!

Sasha + Julius: It's Devotion!

Sasha and Julius's wedding ended our 2009 wedding season with a bang. We'd like to extend a personal thank-you to everyone who we had the pleasure of photographing, hanging out with, chatting with, and working with through all of our 25 weddings this past season. We had some of the coolest couples in the world, hung out with some of the funnest wedding parties imaginable, and attended some of the greatest parties every thrown! Oh, and not to mention the fact that we had the fortune of working with the best wedding vendors in the area! So thank-you for making this wedding season so enjoyable and fun!

On Friday, Al and I photographed the wedding of Sasha and Julius, and we had a fantastic day, and it was such an amazing way to end our wedding season! Even though it rained for most of the day, we definitely made the most of it, and the guys and gals weren't afraid to get a little bit wet for some wicked-cool shots!

Sasha and Julius didn't have a knife for the cake, so they decided to karate-chop it, instead!

Now, on to the other awesome news - our "Fun-Booth"!

Sasha and Julius were so kind as to allow us to set up our fun-booth at their reception, after the first dances. Essentially, for the fun-booth, we set up some whacky backdrop, have a whole bunch of silly props (as you'll see), and allow (entice) guests to comon over and have some fun! We are offering this service as an upgrade to all of our 2010 couples, and we have already had a GREAT response to it!

We found that it was a great opportunity for those who weren't into dancing to still have some fun and "let loose".

The Harbers: It's Fun!

Bright and early, this morning, I met up with the Harber family - Dana, Andrew and Aiden. They live on a beautiful property in St. David's, and wanted some fun, relaxed family portraits on their grounds. What a beautiful backdrop it was!

Although Aiden was a bit squeemish, we got some really great portraits for them! I can't wait to share more!

Joe + Sabrina: It's Love!

Yesterday, I hung out with Joe and Sabrina for their engagement session. Joe and Sabrina are having a HUGE wedding next summer, which is going to be a total blast!

For their engagement session, we hung out at Stella's for a bit, and then head down to Niagara-on-the-Lake for some portraits before we got rained out by mother nature.

Abby: It's Chic (Part Two)!

On Sunday evening, Abby came down, again, from Whitby, for another portrait session. She loved the images so much from our first shoot, that she just couldn't help but get some more portraits done!

This time, however, it was a bit different. We had a double-theme happening: the first was "boudoir" - a portrait session that we do with quite a few of our brides, where we get create intimate images designed to show true beauty. Only difference here is that Abby isn't a bride - she just wanted some amazing, soft and sexy boudoir portraits.

Our second theme was "fall" - and the brand "Abercrombie & Fitch" comes to mind here. We were cut short, due to the lack of light, but we still got some amazing stuff.

Jenn + Darryl: It's Devotion!

On Saturday, Al and I hung out with Jenn and Darryl. What was forecasted to be "80% rainy" turned out to be absolutely perfect - especially for some "cloud shots" (as Jenn put it).

Jenn's parents had recently re-done EVERYTHING in the house - baseboards, floors, paint, etc (which I can totally relate to) - so I thought that it would be neat to incorporate some of their hard work into some of the photos ... like this one of the flowers!

After the ceremony, we headed over to a friend of the family's place on the lake for the bridal party portraits. What an amazing piece of property this was! Wowsers! Check out some of these shots ...

Gotta love Alicia's blue shoes! So cool!

This is Alicia's little brother. He was playing pool while everyone else was getting ready, so I thought that I would take a "cool guy" shot of him ... love how it turned out!

Darrell and Alicia's centerpieces were very unique to them. Since Darrell is a golf pro at a golfcourse in Ancaster, they figured that they would use his profession as part of the floral arrangement. Love it!

Pete + Haley: It's Devotion!

Yesterday, I had the great pleasure of meeting with the super-rad Pete and super gorgeous Haley for their wedding. Pete and I have been communicating for quite some time now, as he planned the big day for him and Haley. This is one heck of a story, so I have to share it!

Pete and Haley have been dating for over 7 years, and always knew that they would some day get married. Pete decided to take it into his own hands and surprise Haley with probably the best "gift" he could have ever surprised her with. Last week, they went to New York for vacation (they are from Austrailia), and Pete proposed to Haley and told her "Hey - we're getting married next week in Niagara Falls. I have everything arranged". That's one heck of a surprise to spring on someone, wouldn't you say!?

Of course, Haley said yes, and Pete's plans proceeded. Pete had arranged a dress for Haley, hair, make-up, a minister, a hotel (Crowne Royal Plaza - which ROCKS!), and me. So yesterday, I had the great pleasure of hanging out with them on their wedding day!

What's even cooler about this "Blog Post" is that this is how Pete and Haley's friends and family gets to experience their wedding day. Pete sent me a LONG list of e-mails for me to share their wedding photos with. So ... to all of Pete and Haley's friends and family who are reading this - Congratulations! And Enjoy!!

Jenna + Nick: It's Dramatic!

I LOVE our couples! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with the coolest couples on this planet!

I just finished up a looking at Andrea + Rob's wedding photos with them, and I come back to my computer to blog Crystal + Chris and Jenna + Nick's photos and I am reminded how awesome my couples are! So this is a quick "thank you" to all of my kick-butt clients!

This past Saturday, Al and I hung out with Crystal and Chris and their awesome bridal party, in Port Colborne. We had yet another beautiful September day, which made everything even better!
Crystal owns the fashion store "Glam Girl" in Port Colborne, so like true "glam girl" style, no detail was overlooked, and Crystal looked absolutely STUNNING!

We hung out with Chris and the guys for some fun shots beforehand ...

PPO: September Meeting - Embracing Change and Simplifying Lightroom

I am so excited to announce that Rob and I will be speaking at the upcoming Professional Photographers of Ontario (Southwestern Ontario branch) meeting.

The program is called "Embracing Change and Simplifying Lightroom", where we will challenge photographers to evolve and adapt with the ever-changing industry to grow their businesses. And, of course, we'll be giving a mini-seminar on Adobe Lightroom and all the wonders about it!

If you are not a member of Professional Photographers of Ontario, I STRONGLY recommend that you join! Comon out to our program and see what it's all about! If you are not a member and have no interest in joining, that's O.K., too, you can still come to our program!

It's being held on Monday, September 28th, and registration starts at 6:30pm.

Some cool new studio products ...

In all of the business of the past few weeks, we have gotten some absolutely incredible products come in and out of the studio, here.

Here's a few of the ones I was able to snap some shots of ...The DiMaurizio sisters ordered a 20x60 canvas collage to give to their Dad for his birthday. What a GREAT gift! Look at how kick-butt this looks!

Another super cool product that we got in is our pop-up canvas from Simply Canvas. Sweet, eh? This thing is taller than I am! Crazy!

We got a few more sample books in. This is another sample engagement book from Sasha and Julius's shoot. It is a very close replication of the very book that Sasha and Julius picked up only last week.

Weddings in Wine Country - Images

This past week, Robert Nowell and I hosted our "Weddings in Wine Country" wedding photography workshop. In case you haven't already checked it out, check out our educational website for photographers at http:///www.enlightenmeblog.com.

Rob and I have hosted a whole whack of seminars and one-on-one consultations already, but our "Weddings in Wine Country" workshop was the first "big" workshop. Attendees stayed overnight with us at the Oban Inn in stunning Niagara-on-the-Lake, and were immersed in all things weddings - marketing, branding, workflow, shooting, and much more!

Tara and Melissa from Planned to a T who helped us plan all of the details and who arranged all of our accomodations. They did an amazing job, and everything truly was "planned to a T". If you are looking for a wedding or event planner, be sure to give them a buzz!

Celia and all of the staff at the Oban Inn completely blew us away and surpassed our expectations. Everything from the service, the food to all of the coffee breaks and amazing baked-goods that we had throughout the week was PERFECT!

Niagara Classic Cars and Cabs who graciously provided us with transportation for our photo-shoots, and allowed us use of their Rolls Royce car for a "prop" on our shoot.

Wow - it seems like it's been weeks since Daniella and Lorne's wedding, but really it has only been 5 days. It has been a really busy week for us, over here, as we had our 3-day imersion "Weddings in Wine Country" wedding photography workshop at the lovely Oban Inn. Keep your eyes for a blog post on that, but for now, let's get on to Daniella and Lorne's photos.

We photographed their wedding this past Saturday, and had probably one of the nicest days, weather-wise, that we've had yet this summer. Finally - no rain! Bummer that it came in September, though! Haha

On Sunday, I met up with Corby, Roselyn, Ben and Ysabel for a fun portrait session at Queenston Heights. Corby and Roselyn were guests at Katie and Jamie's wedding that we photographed a couple of months ago, and loved our work so much that they decided to comon down from Toronto for their portraits.

On Saturday, we photographed the wedding of Courtney and Aaron, and, like Friday, we had the best weather we could have asked for! Where the heck has this weather been the whole summer? Sheesh!

On Friday, Al and I hung out with Andrea and Rob for their intimate wedding at Balls Falls, in Jordan, Ontario. It was such a nice relaxing and laid-back day, and we couldn't have asked for better weather!

What a crazy, crazy week this has been! Between renovations (renovations, you say? Renovations on what? Well ... you're going to have to wait to find out!), shoots, orders, and planning for our upcoming EnlightenMe 3-day workshop, we have been busy little bees!

I had the great pleasure of collaborating with three of Secrets Modeling Agencys' models this past Thursday for a portfolio shoot. We hung out at Botanical Gardens in Niagara Falls, and got some great stuff for these girls!

We had Andrea and Rob's amazingly fun wedding this morning (check back soon for images) and we have Courtney and Aaron's wedding tomorrow (check back later on this weekend for images), so the craziness continues!

Hope that everyone has a nice relaxing long weekend for me ... hehe

Lysanne + Dave: It's Love!

Al and I drove up to Montreal this past weekend to visit Lysanne and Dave and hang out for their engagement shoot.

What an AMAZING time we had! I haven't been to Montreal in forever (was there when I was very young) and Al has never been. Lysanne and Dave showed us around town, and we totally loved it. Montreal is such a beautiful city - I love the heritage.

I think that the ONLY downside was that it was literally the hottest day of the summer! They said that with humidity, it was over 40 degrees! Yikes!

This is Charlotte - Lysanne and Dave's little doggie. What a cutie she was!

It was so hot that she was too tired to stand up, though.

Wow - this week has completely flown by! This past Saturday, Al and I spent the day with Jenna and Nick, at their gorgeous outdoor wedding, and it seems like it was 2 weeks ago, already! We have done so much since this Saturday ... crazy! Lots of big updates coming, soon!

Jenna and her gals started off at Textures Hair Salon. Man, we love the girls over there at Textures - they're fun, exciting, beautiful, and they're GREAT at what they do! Jenna and her bridesmaids looked fabulous!

On we went to visit Nick and the boys

They had a fix-the-suspenders-train going on with a few of the guys ... how special!

Jenna and Nick had their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Riverbend Inn. The weather wasn't the greatest, but at least it held out for the ceremony and most of the photo-session.

The decorations and flowers were absolutely breathtaking!

It was even better because Jenna and Nick cared SO MUCH about photos that they didn't even care about the rain. How amazing is this?

Ashley + Pat: It's Devotion!

Yesterday, Al and I photographed Ashley and Pat's wedding. They had a nice, quaint, backyard wedding at Pat's parent's house in St. Catharines. Luckily, the rain held off JUST in time for photos, so we were good-to-go!

Erin + Levi: It's Devotion!

On Saturday, Al and I spent the day with Erin and Levi and their friends and family. Erin and Levi are such an amazing couple, and we had such a great time with them. Both of their families were so welcoming to Al and I on Saturday - we felt like we were part of the family! Erin's dad, Phil, even got out some of Erin's baby pictures to show us - I'm not sure if Erin was happy about that or not, though ... hehe

Erin and Levi's wedding was full of "firsts" for us. It was our first to shoot a wedding party in a rye-field (which was AWESOME). It was our first time to shoot a wedding party on a combine (which was even more awesome) and it was MY first to ever fire a gun! I know what you're saying. You're saying "Bryan - fire a gun? What? I thought you 'shoot' pictures, not guns?". Well ... Levi, being the farmer and country-guy that he is, had him and all of his groomsmen out to the farm to skeet shoot the morning of the wedding. When we went to shoot them shooting, Levi insisted that I take a go at it, and it was pretty sweet!

Anyway - we had such a great day with Erin and Levi, and we got some amazing pictures! Check 'em out!

Erin and the ladies started off at Galuppi Hair Salon, in Burford. It was a cute, 1800-built home transformed into a hair salon. We just loved the character!

At the reception, Erin and Levi had their engagement signing book out, and it looked great! All of the guests loved looking through all of their photos, and it was a nice alternative to just the standard guest-signing book.

Jackie + Jason: It's Devotion!

On Saturday, we spent the day with Jackie and Jason and their friends and family for a nice quant, garden wedding. Jackie and Jason had planned the entire wedding to be outdoors, at the Grand Victorian B&B. When the weathermen were forecasting 100% chance of thundershowers, we were all a little bit scared.

Luckily, however, the rain held off for photos, and it turned out to be a beautiful day.

Jackie had her hair and make-up done by the lovely ladies at Bliss Salon, in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

On to the Grand Victorian to see Jason and the guys ...

Jackie and Jason opted to see each other before the ceremony. It's always nice when our couples decide to do this, because it gives us lots of time, before the ceremony to take portraits. Also, it gives them a few minutes to enjoy their time together, and enjoy the emotions of "seeing each other" for the first time.

The rain started just in time for the ceremony, so everyone squeezed onto the veranda. It all worked out a-ok, though!

Jen + Michelle: It's Devotion!

This past Friday, Al and I had the great pleasure of photographing the very special wedding of Jen and Michelle. Jen and Michelle are a dynamic, fun and energetic couple from the sunny state of Florida, who decided to come up to Niagara (the honeymoon capital) to tie the knot.

The day was very laid back and relaxing - it was just the four of us! We hung out, got some great photos for them, and we were even their witnesses! How cool!

We had an amazing time hanging out and getting to know Jen and Michelle, and now we have a place to stay when we visit Daytona! Sweet! Hehe

Jen and Michelle got ready at the Lionshead B&B, which was an amazing little Bed and Breakfast, on River Road. Here's Jen getting pampered, and loving it!

I also went with Michelle to go to City Hall and get the marriage license. It was kind of fun shooting things as they happened ... everyone was wondering if she was some kind of celebrity, because she had this "guy" with a "big camera" following her everywhere.

We had to go back to City Hall to fix something in the paperwork, for the marriage license, so it was hilarious seeing everyone looking at this newlywed couple walking into City Hall. Again, the "celebrity" thing must have come up a few times!

Afterwards, we went to the St. David's Carnival for some shots. The people working the carnival were more than happy to allow us to play on some of the rides for the shots, so we had a great time!

After the carnival, we went down to Port Dalhousie for some more portraits

Jen even decided to venture into the water and do a Trash-the-Dress the day of the wedding. Cool!

Jen decided that she liked her sweet, white suit too much to get it wet, so she just watched from the sidelines.

Finally, after Jen got out of her soaking-wet dress, we did some engagement-style photos for them. How nice!

Erin + Levi: Engagement Book!

Your engagement book has arrived and is settling in quite nicely. So nicely, in fact, that it doesn't want to leave. The studio has adapted quite nicely to it's presence and the book looks so absolutely incredible that I think we are going to have a hard time letting it go.

Ok ... seriously, though! This book looks wicked! Erin and Levi chose (like many of our couples do) to use their engagement photos to create a wonderful coffee-table book. We love doing these with our engagement photos, because it gives our couples the opportunity to have a whole whack of their images printed for keepsake purposes.

Erin and Levi opted to have their engagement book double as a guest-signing book at their reception. This is such a cool idea, because now all of their guests can browse through their engagement photos, and Erin and Levi have something more memorable than just a blank book with signatures in it. Sweet!

Sandra: It's Chic!

Sandra works for a great model agency in Niagara Falls by the name of "Secrets Models and Talents". She does all of the recruiting, does some of the classes, and organizes all of the madness that goes on behind-the-scenes at Secrets. Of course, Sandra also models, herself, and is an absolutely stunning girl!

I am going to be doing some work with Secrets in the near future, so I took Sandra out for a photo-shoot to give her a "feel" of how I work. We had a great time, bright-and-early this morning, and got some amazing shots for her portfolio.

The Epp (& Extended) Family: It's Fun!

Last evening, I met up with the Epp family for some multi-generational family portraits. Grandma and Grandpa, their three children, and their grandchildren don't get together too often, so they figured that while they were all together in Niagara for a week, they might as well update their family portraits.

This morning, I had the great pleasure of hanging out with all of the Quinn (& extended) cousins. An old teacher of mine contacted me, last week, and had asked me to photograph her nephews and niece, as three of them were down from out of town. When she told me that there were 5 of them, and that their ages were 4, 5, 5, 6 and 8, I was totally pumped!

Not only do I love kids, but I love photographing kids! Being a former swim instructor, camp counselor and lifeguard, I have been around kids my entire life. I love how driven kids are by "play" and "fun".

This morning was absolutely no exception! The craziness that I had imagined in my head as I heard "4, 5, 5, 6 and 8" was nothing in compared to the *controlled* chaos we had this morning! I had such a blast hanging out with Rhys, Cait, Declan, Charlie and John Leo, this morning, at Queenston Heights.

The Turpin (& Extended) Family: It's Fun!

Do you remember Traci and Mike? We got together earlier in the year for an "It's Love" session, while Traci was pregnant with their first-born.

Well, fast-forward half a year, and here we are, again, doing some beautiful family portraits for Traci, MIke, and their adorable little munchkin, Kylie. This time, though, we got the WHOLE family involved!

I seriously love these guys, and I love all of the connections that I am blessed to make through photography. I photographed Traci as a bridesmaid last year, in Michelle and Mike's wedding, then I photographed Traci and Mike's "It's Love" maternity session. I recently had Riley (Traci's younger brother) as a student in my Spring Photography Class, and I also just recently photographed an "It's Love" session for Riley and his girlfriend, Kate. So yeah ... I LOVE this family!

Alicia: Bridal Shower

Yesterday, I ventured out to Welland to photograph Alicia's bridal shower. I'm sure that you remember Alicia and Darrell - they're our super hawt couple that we photographed last week at Niagara-on-the-Lake golf course.

Alicia chose to have bridal shower coverage, so that she didn't have to worry about having her camera around. I love covering bridal showers, not only because I get to "hang around with hot girls all afternoon" (quoted directly from one of Alicia's aunts), but because it let's me meet a lot of the family and I get to see a completely different side of my brides.

I simply cannot wait for Alicia and Darrell's wedding this September. They ROCK!

Anyway, enough rambling! Enjoy some of these photos and moments :)

The skies were taunting us all day, but the rain only showed his ugly face for about 2 minutes right before the bridal "shower" started (pun most certainly intended)

The bridal shower was held in Alicia's Grandma's backyard. It was so gorgeous back there, and there was TONS of room for all of Alicia's guests!

This past Saturday, Al and I photographed the amazingly beautiful wedding of Andrea and Jeremy. The wedding was held at Andrea's parent's house, right on the Niagara Parkway, and it was one of the most beautiful outdoor weddings that I have ever seen!

Wednesday Madness: Prints, Prints and More Prints!

We just LOVE getting parcels from our photo-lab! It's always so exciting to open up the carefully packaged boxes and see our final prints.

It's awesome that we can post pictures on Facebook, put them up on our blog and on our website, but there is nothing in this world that compares to seeing a final print - hand retouched, printed on the finest archival paper and packaged to perfection. Yummy! I just love it!

Today is a big day in the studio - Al's packaging away! So I thought that while she was organizing print orders from the last week or so, I would snap some shots of these babies!

These photos don't do the prints justice, but at least we can tease all of our clients with them ... hehe

Prints make us happy!

As great as digital is, we still like organizing our print orders the old-fashioned paper-and-pencil kind of way. We have a hanging file folder, that you see here, with all the "steps" in the printing pricess.

The best part about getting prints in is that all of the orders in the "Out-Printing" gets moved to the "Complete" folder. Look at how "Complete" our current printing situation is! It's like heaven!

Here, we have some prints nestled away in their cute little tissue paper and box, sealed with a "Bryan Caporicci Photography" seal.
