What's the first thing a young woman does after being asked those four special words and receiving a diamond?
Well, after telling her closest friends and her mom, she usually begins looking at bridal magazines, and in today's world, clicking on bridal websites. When today's brides go looking for inspiration, ideas and a photographer to book one local business man will be top of the list at http://www.weddingbells.ca.
Local photographer, Bryan Caporicci has been named one of Wedding Bells magazine's 25 most inspiring photographers.
"The definitive guide to our favourite Canadian wedding photographers of the year from coast to coast" according to Wedding Bells, was achieved by scouring the magazine's archives for the prettiest real wedding photos. The field was narrowed to25 photographers based on reputation, attention to detail and the overall quality and creativity of the shots.
Wedding Bells staff write they love Caporicci because "this photographer excels at harnessing light and nature and using them to his advantage to create breathtaking wedding shots. He's great at staging group portraits (perfect for large bridal parties) and capturing all the candid moments you'll want to cherish after your wedding day."
"Spot on," was how Caporicci reacted to the magazine's description of his photography, going on to explain he focuses on people, and moments, during a wedding and staff at Wedding Bells "totally connected" with what he strives to create."It's really nice for me to read that," he says of the comments.
"Natural, pure, genuine, fun, relaxed," is how Caporicci describes his style for shooting weddings.
The computer sciences major turned wedding photographer says his interaction with people and couples through is work gives him "lots of fulfillment and personal satisfaction."
The most rewarding moment, he says, is handing the couple their wedding album and watching the couple see their photos in print for the first time. "It's like magic," he says. "That's what wedding photography is about."
The member of the Pelham Business Association Board of Directors says he was quite surprised to discover he'd been chosen, considering he had to check his own facebook page to get the news.
Caporicci says he was at a PBA meeting when the email announcements were sent out so he didn't receive the notification right away, but his studio manager did. She put the news on his facebook page. When he got home from the PBA meeting, Caporicci says his wife congratulated him, and he had no idea what for, until he saw the facebook page and then checked his email.
Caporicci was featured in the magazine as one of the "Prettiest Real Weddings", a section of the magazine and website that allows brides and grooms, photographers or other wedding vendors to submit photos of weddings. Of the photographers featured each year, Wedding Bells staff choose their favourites then narrow down the list by viewing the rest of the photographers' portfolios.
Wedding photographer for publication, said Caporicci, is usually more focused on details - showcasing other wedding vendors as well - such as flowers, cakes and decor. Caporicci says he does shoot the details to include in a couple's wedding album, but his focus is on people and capturing the bride and groom, and rest of the wedding, in the most natural and romantic way possible.
While he's happy to be chosen, Caporicci said he is a little surprised too that his people-centred style has been recognized.
Caporicci says the recognition is great, but notes the listing is very time-sensitive, since website information is updated daily. Brides will visit the sight, and his website traffic went up immediately the day the blog was posted, but Caporicci says he'll likely get more use from the distinction by using it as a marketing tool.
The photography business is largely a word of mouth business, he adds, so having couples he has photographed be able to tell friends about their experiences as well as the distinction, will also help.
Not that Caporicci needs much help getting business. He's already fully booked in 2012, with 10 more weddings booked than his target, and has already started booking into 2013.
To see Caporicci's work, visit bcapphoto.com. To see the 25 Most Inspiring Photographers of 2012, visit http://www.weddingbells. ca, and look for the Jan. 23 blog post under planning.

We are honoured to have been recognized as one of the 25 most inspiring wedding photographers of 2012 by Wedding Bells Magazine!
Here is what they had to say about our work:
This photographer excels at harnessing light and nature and using them to his advantage to create breathtaking wedding shots. He's great at staging group portraits (perfect for large bridal parties) and capturing all the candid moments you'll want to cherish after your wedding day.

Jennie here! My sisters and I decided we wanted to give an extra special gift to our parents this year. It has been a long time since we have had a family portrait taken, and we decided to do something a little bit different. We wanted our portrait to be simple and elegant, and to really emphasize our relationship with each other. We got together here in the studio for a portrait session with Bryan, a few weeks before Christmas, and surprised our parents with a beautiful wall portrait on Christmas morning. They absolutely loved the timeless, special gift.

We wanted to give you a better idea of what our wedding albums are like. Viewing the albums in person is always the best thing, but we wanted to share a few photos so you can get a feel for the quality and design.

We have received so many beautiful wedding albums in the studio recently, so we wanted to share with you what a completed album looks like. We usually share just a few images for each of our weddings, but a wedding album helps to share the story of the wedding day through moments and details.

As you may recall, we have began working on a project with the Lincoln County Humane Society. We are photographing some of their long term residents, in hopes of helping them find their forever homes.
Wonderful news to hear this morning! Both of the dogs that we photographed last week for the Lincoln County Humane Society have since been adopted! Looks like both of these dogs are going to have an amazing Christmas. We are honoured and privileged to be part of this process and are looking forward to helping out more long-term residents of the humane society in the New Year! Here are our featured dogs this week, Fatima and Sam. There are both lovely seniors looking for a best friend to retire with. Sam, a black lab is a a loving boy who would be happy to cuddle on the couch with you all day. Fatima, a Shepherd was a stray, and with a little love and companionship, she would make an excellent best friend.
Please take a look. Feel free to share our photos on Facebook with your Facebook friends in hopes of finding these dogs homes for the holidays.

A few weeks ago we launched a new exciting project here in the studio. Petits Amis Portraits is a bright, energetic and colourful way to have your pet photographed, that spotlights their unique quirks and personality. Our pets are such wonderful members of our families, and Petits Amis Portraits portray them how you view them day to day. Fun, loving and sometimes a little silly.
We are excited to announce a new collaborative project with the Lincoln County Humane Society. We will be photographing some of their special residents in our Petits Amis Portrait Style, to help raise awareness and help each of their personalities shine. We are hoping this will really help to get some of these special little friends noticed, so that they can find their forever homes.
For more information regarding Petits Amis Portraits, you can visit our website : www.petitsamisphoto.com
Our Petits Amis Pet Community Facebook Page is a great place to connect with pet owners, share tips and tricks, and enjoy some fun photos.

I am interested in learning where brides (both past and future) find inspiration for their wedding. How do/did you find ideas for flowers, decor, colours, hair styles, etc.
Please visit our Facebook Page
and check out this discussion. I would really appreciate your opinion!

Having been married just over a year ago, the wedding planning process is still very fresh in my mind. I can appreciate that often times, the process can be very overwhelming and sometimes you don't even know where to start.
Something that I always recommend to my brides and grooms is to "hire people that you trust" so that you can have 100% confidence in letting them "do their magic" for you. One of the greatest ways to check out local wedding professionals and get ideas and inspiration are bridal shows.
As a wedding photographer, I don't do bridal shows myself, because we get all of our brides and grooms through referrals. Plus, we're just about fully booked for 2012 already, so a bridal show wouldn't make any sense for us. There are tons of great wedding professionals - florists, decorators, stationary, etc - at the local bridal shows and I think that every bride and groom should check out at least one show.
Lucky for you, there is a bridal show coming up this Sunday, at the new Scotiabank Convention Centre, from 11:00am until 5:00pm.
We were fortunate enough to be the photographer of choice to photograph for the magazine cover and marketing materials for the bridal show. Niagara this Week is the company who runs the show, and runs the "Brides Niagara" magazine, and this is the 2nd year in a row that we have been priveledged to photograph their magazine cover for them.
Check out the copy of the billboard that has been up around town for over a month now. It is one of the magazine's favourite images from our photo-shoot, and will also be featured on the cover of the magazine. Our photo-shoot for the magazine was a huge success, and we had so many amazing people involved. I wanted to share an "outtake" or two, as well as a few detail photographs, in appreciation and gratitude for those individuals who helped us out for the session:
Allure Hair and Make-Up
Jessica's Accessories
Expressions Flowers
Stonemill Inn
Rainbow Bridal
Designer Delights

The week before we went on vacation, we photographed family portraits for the Groom family at there home here in Fonthill.
I always love it when our families incorporate something special and unique in their portraits, and for the Groom family, their portraits are even that much more personal! They have a beautiful home and a beautiful backyard, and so what better background for their family portraits than their own property!

This engagement session is a special one for me to post. Geoff and I grew up together; we were best buds in elementary school, hung out a lot in High School, and he and Nicole were even at our wedding last July.
When Geoff and Nicole got engaged, I was so excited and honoured to be included in their wedding plans as their wedding photographer.
We hung out last week in Niagara-on-the-Lake for their session and got some really great images - casual, fun, yet sophisticated. Love it!

Fun, happy, joyful. Three words that describe this beautiful family.
Kristi and Khalil are getting married in Niagara this August, and when we started planning their experience here with the studio, it was very important for them to include their daughter, Iyla, into the wedding process. It was therefore clear that when the time came for their engagement session, it would also double as a family portrait session.
In my job, I have the great pleasure of being able to connect with so many incredible couples and families. These guys really hold a really special place in my heart - I think that I have found a new best friend in Iyla!
I had such a great time hanging out with Kristi, Khalil and Iyla, and their beautiful family is such a joy to photograph. Their laughter is literally contagious.
Enjoy a few of my favourite images. I can't wait to spend more time with their family in August!

I have had the pleasure of photographing at Mark's studio before, and it is always a great pleasure. The food is among the finest in Niagara, the hospitality is second to none, and the atmosphere that Mark and his staff create for their guests is intimate and romantic.
Mary and Toni had their ceremony, among their family and their closest friends in the middle of the vineyard. Enjoy a few of these images!

The Monday of Canada Day weekend, we had the pleasure of photographing the very special and unique wedding - the union of Holly and Alyson.
Niagara Falls, the "honeymoon capital of the world", possesses a certain romance that I think we locals often take for granted. Holly and Alyson found it to be the perfect destination for them to confess their love for each other and finally tie the knot.
Their wedding was, as Holly put it "an intimate event with two brides, a bunch of Cirque du Soleil folk, high school mates and embarrassing family members". And what a celebration it was!
Enjoy a few of my favourite images, below.

My style of photography can be described using the words natural, relaxed and fun. A lot of the times, the couples who commission me to photograph their wedding do so because they connect with the organic look to my photographs.
A big part of this is that I often gravitate to using nature as my backdrop - water, trees and grass as another photographer once put it to be so appropriately. I feel that nature's canvas goes so well with my style.
Vivian and Jeff wanted something different, though. They love my natural and organic style of photography, but they wanted to throw a twist in and have a bit more of an "urban" backdrop to the images. I was certainly up for the challenge!
Here are a few of my favourite images - urban organic I call it! What do you think?

Fonthill Photographer Achieves CPA Status
He may be young, but he’s achieved more in five years than some achieve in a lifetime.
Pelham is now home to the youngest Craftman of Photographic Arts (CPA) on record in Canada. Earlier this month, Font- hill’s Bryan Caporicci was awarded the designation through the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC). “As far as I know, I am the youngest photographer in all of Canada to earn the title,” says Caporicci.
In order to reach his goal, Caporicci had to earn merit points in two categories–print and service.
“I earned print points by getting accreditations and being accepted into the National Image Salon,” he says. “I am accredited in nine categories, and I have a total of six successful acceptances into the National Image Salon.”
According to Caporicci, getting even one accreditation and one photo accepted into the National Image Salon is an honour for any photographer.
“It feels great,” says Caporicci. “And my goal is to help other photographers reach their potential.”
Caporicci managed to achieve the designation so quickly and in such a short period of time by being actively involved in his craft. He has earned service points by serving on the PPOC-Ontario, Hamilton/Niagara Branch for the past two years. In his first year, he was a member at large, and now he is the vice-chair of the branch. In his role, he’s helped organize and run meetings, and he has spoken at more than 20 seminars for the PPOC. Furthermore, he has served the industry by offering work placements to co-op students—to date, four in total.
“I’m raising the bar in my industry,” says Caporicci. “I may be the youngest CPA in Canada, but I’m also probably the most active.”
Caporicci’s youth has not held him back. “I’m giving seminars to photographers twice my age, and to people with 20 or 30 years’ experience, and I’m teaching them new things,” he says. “I’ve been doing this for only five years but I’ve accelerated my knowledge base in such a short time.”
Caporicci says that it’s not surprising he’s achieved so much in so little time. “I’ve always been the driven type,” he says. “I’m not satisfied doing the status quo.”
According to Caporicci, the PPOC sets challenging goals and standards that he can work towards achieving; it’s his way of bringing excellence to an industry that isn’t regulated.
“My clients hire me for the high-quality work I produce,” he says. “My accreditations and titles give my customers confidence that I am a qualified and skilled photographer.”
Caporicci says he has a vested interest in his clients’ satisfaction, and that he will continue to strive for the top. He is currently working on his Masters of Photographic Arts through the PPOC, which he expects to achieve by 2012.

We have a lot of our brides book a boudoir session as part of their wedding collection. The majority of the time, the images are created for "his eyes only", and so they never make it to the blog. Sayuri, however, gave us permission to publish on our blog some of her favourite images from her boudoir session.
I photographed Sayuri's boudoir session in her and Mark's beautiful Toronto home, and the session was full of style, elegance and beauty. Enjoy some of our favourite images.

Throughout the last few years, running my business, buying our house, planning our wedding, building an addition, and so on, I have come used the services of quite a number of local businesses. From real estate agent, home inspection, lawyer and accountant, to landscaper, insurance agent, stair manufacturer, carpet installer, electrician and general contractor, I have come in contact with a TON of business owners and service providers.
It is unfortunate to say that I have had my share of negative experiences, whether it be a service provider not following through on what he or she promised, to a business owner providing lousy customer service and not setting proper expectations with me. I feel like in the last 3 or 4 years, through all of this, I have learned a lot about life and a lot about the do's and don'ts of running a service-based business.
In comes Boyd Automotive. Stu, the owner of Boyd Automotive, recently joined our BNI Chapter, and so when I started hearing weird sounds coming from my brakes, I turned to Stu and his gang.
I want to share my story, because so many people are quick to complain when something goes wrong, but very few are quick to praise when something goes right. Check "Read More", below, to see the whole story!
